The will of God

The will of God will never take you . . .
  Where the grace of God cannot keep you
    Where the arms of God cannot support you
      Where the riches of God cannot supply your needs
        Where the power of God cannot endow you

The will of God will never take you . . .
  Where the spirit of God cannot work through you
    Where the wisdom of God cannot teach you
       Where the army of God cannot protect you
         Where the hands of God cannot mold you

The will of God will never take you . . .
  Where the love of God cannot enfold you
    Where the mercies of God cannot sustain you
      Where the peace of God cannot calm your fears
        Where the authority of God cannot overrule for you

The will of God will never take you . . .
  Where the comfort of God cannot dry your tears
    Where the Word of God cannot feed you
      Where the miracles of God cannot be done for you
        Where the omnipresence of God cannot find you

Good Friday @ Scottsdale

We had the hall darkened except for the side door near the front where the sun was shining through - our glimmer of hope among the gloom.  Just as we started to sing Keith Getty's The power of the cross - the sun went behind the clouds & the room lost it's glimmer of sunshine.  Then as we got to the final chorus the sun came out again & our glimmer of hope glowed brightly.  Thank you God for the visual effects!!!

Here are the words in case you don't know them!

Oh, to see the dawn
Of the darkest day:
Christ on the road to Calvary.
Tried by sinful men,
Torn and beaten, then
Nailed to a cross of wood.

CHORUS:
This, the pow'r of the cross:
Christ became sin for us;
Took the blame, bore the wrath—
We stand forgiven at the cross.

Oh, to see the pain
Written on Your face,
Bearing the awesome weight of sin.
Ev'ry bitter thought,
Ev'ry evil deed
Crowning Your bloodstained brow.

Now the daylight flees;
Now the ground beneath
Quakes as its Maker bows His head.
Curtain torn in two,
Dead are raised to life;
"Finished!" the vict'ry cry.

Oh, to see my name
Written in the wounds,
For through Your suffering I am free.
Death is crushed to death;
Life is mine to live,
Won through Your selfless love.

FINAL CHORUS:
This, the pow'r of the cross:
Son of God—slain for us.
What a love! What a cost!
We stand forgiven at the cross.

For all those officers who have purchased dogs in recent days!

The Majors (Salvation army Pastors) decided they needed a dog. Ever mindful of the congregation, they knew the dog must also be Christian.

They visited an expensive kennel and explained their needs to the manager, who assured them he had just the dog for them. The dog was produced and the manager said, "Fetch the Bible."

The dog bounded to the bookshelf, scrutinized the books, located the Bible, and brought it to the manager.

The manager then said "Find Psalms 23". The dog, showing marvelous dexterity with his paws, leafed thru the Bible, found the correct passage, and pointed to it with his paw. Duly impressed, the Majors purchased the dog.

That evening a group of the Corps people came to the Majors' home for a prayer meeting. After the prayers over a cup of coffee, the Majors began to show off the dog, having him locate several Bible verses.

The visitors were amazed. Finally, one man asked, "Can he do normal dog tricks too?"

"Let's see" said the Major. Pointing his finger at the dog, he commanded "Heel!"

The dog immediately jumped up on a chair, placed one paw on the Major's forehead and began to howl.

The Major turned to his wife and exclaimed "Good grief, we've bought a Pentecostal dog!"

Battle ready

If we were heading off to battle, we would want to do it with a map of the terrain, an awesome battle plan, and the most incredible weapons. We would want to be fully equipped for whatever came our way. The truth is we head off to battle everyday … a spiritual battle.

As Christians, we are part of God’s army and everyday we are faced with the challenge of honouring God with our lifestyle and our faith. Where the difficulty lies, is within the trials we face each day. But, by knowing God’s Word and keeping it in our heart at all times, we can have the confidence to fight the battle everyday.
